Before you start packing fragile items, make sure you have the right materials. Using the wrong materials is the most common cause of damage.
- Bubble wrap — the most important item. Buy large rolls, not small sheets.
- Foam sheets — for flat items like picture frames and plates.
- Packing paper — for filling gaps inside boxes.
- Double-walled cardboard boxes — never use thin single-wall boxes for fragile items.
- Packing tape — strong, wide tape to seal boxes securely.
- Marker — to label every box as FRAGILE.
How to Pack Each Type of Fragile Item
🍽️ Plates & China
Never stack plates flat — they break under their own weight during transit. Instead, wrap each plate individually in bubble wrap and stand them on their edge vertically inside the box, like records in a crate. Pack foam or paper between each plate. - Always put heavier items at the bottom, lighter on top.
